    Rough Neutrosophic Multisets

    Get PDF
Many past studies largely described the concept of neutrosophic sets, neutrosophic multisets, rough sets, and rough neutrosophic sets in many areas. However, no paper has discussed about rough neutrosophic multisets. In this paper, we present some definition of rough neutrosophic multisets such as complement, union and intersection. We also have examined some desired properties of rough neutrosophic multisets based on these definitions. We use the hybrid structure of rough set and neutrosophic multisets since these theories are powerful tool for managing uncertainty, indeterminate, incomplete and imprecise information

Mathematical Programming Models for Portfolio Optimization Problem: A Review

    Get PDF
Portfolio optimization problem has received a lot of attention from both researchers and practitioners over the last six decades. This paper provides an overview of the current state of research in portfolio optimization with the support of mathematical programming techniques. On top of that, this paper also surveys the solution algorithms for solving portfolio optimization models classifying them according to their nature in heuristic and exact methods. To serve these purposes, 40 related articles appearing in the international journal from 2003 to 2013 have been gathered and analyzed. Based on the literature review, it has been observed that stochastic programming and goal programming constitute the highest number of mathematical programming techniques employed to tackle the portfolio optimization problem. It is hoped that the paper can meet the needs of researchers and practitioners for easy references of portfolio optimization

A Review on Quantitative Approaches for Dock Door Assignment in Cross-Docking

    Get PDF
Cross docking is a relatively new technique in supply chain operations. It offers limited storage time to maximize the efficiency of goods transshipment. Efficient operation of a cross docking system requires an appropriate coordination of inbound and outbound flows, accurate planning and dynamic scheduling.  The planning strategies at cross docking terminals, which are receiving growing attention today, are the truck-to-door assignment and destination to door assignment problems. This paper provides a comprehensive literature review of quantitative approaches in dock door assignment problems of cross docking planning. The contributions of this paper are to identify the gap of knowledge in operational levels mainly in dock door assignment and to point out the future research direction in cross docking

The determinants of work position among Gen X : a case of UiTM graduates / Rohani Mohd … [et al.]

The purpose of this preliminary research is to identify corporate talents’ positioning of the UiTM graduates especially the Generation X, within the industries. At the same time, there is also the need to ascertain the factors that contributed to the success of the UiTM Generation X graduates. Majority of the research which have been conducted on the graduates involved the employability rate. However, none has been carried out in identifying the graduates’ career accomplishment. The sample of this research consisted of 191 UiTM graduates who are born between 1965 until 1985 (known as the Generation X). The responses were obtained via an online survey sent to random groups in UiTM emails. In addition, Facebook was also used as a medium in dissemininating the survey forms to random individuals whom has connections with the Generation X alumni. Rasch Measurement Model was employed by using the software WINSTEP 3.72.3, to measure the reliability and validity of the instrument. SPSS version 21 was used to answer the research objective of the study. The result has produced a fair person reliability at +0.66 while the Cronbach Alpha reliability value was at 0.72 and an excellent item reliability of 0.99. In terms of career positioning, 60% of the Generation- falls within the middle management position. This reflects the success of the Gen-X where most of them were able to obtain posts like lecturers, engineers and managers. As for the factors which contributed to the success of the alumni, it was found that involvement in clubs, soft skills and orientation towards religion play important roles in determining the career position of GenX. These findings validate past research and demonstrate that the pattern continues into the present. Surprisingly, it was found that academic achievement, hard skills and personality traits hardly had any influence on the career positions of the Gen-X. It was also discovered that the success of the Gen-X could be due to other factors which is beyond the horizon of this research. Therefore, it was recommended that students should be encouraged to be actively involved in clubs. This must be balanced with religious values exposure so that they know the limit of their involvement

Pareto Analysis on Budget Allocation for Different Categories of Faculties in Higher Education Institution

    Get PDF
AbstractManaging budget for optimum effectiveness at various levels of the university is always a challenging task. This calls for a highly effective budget planning. Budget planning enables an organization to set priorities towards achieving certain goals and to identify highest priorities to be accomplished with the available funds. Our study is concerned with the budget allocation in one of the public universities in Malaysia. Preliminary data analysis has been conducted to analyse the budget performance involving data concerning budget allocations of three groups of faculties. The purpose of the analysis is to determine the allocation proportions among these groups and to identify the faculties that have the greatest cumulative effect on the university budget allocation. These results will provide significant insights for the management in dealing with planning budget allocation. This paper describes the data, concepts, structures, categories, processes, results and discussions, including the Pareto analysis, that have been conducted

Factor and Influential Variables Affecting Maintenance Cost of Urban Rail Rolling Stock

    Get PDF
It is a known fact that the cost of maintaining rolling stock is huge due to its higher acquisition cost and maintenance activity. This research paper aims to analyse, evaluate, and rank the influential variables contributing towards rolling stock maintenance cost. A quantitative approach was adopted for data collection and factual data from Malaysia's rolling stock practitioners was collected using a survey. The research first identified the influential variables associated with rolling stock maintenance cost through literature review. A questionnaire survey was conducted among five Trains Operating Companies in Malaysia. These were performed using importance index to accomplish ranking analysis. The research has discovered five groups of predictor factors that affect rolling stock maintenance cost and 14 influential variables to execute the maintenance activity. This study has highlighted the possibility of future major studies in cost structure implied by group of predictors to predictive cost model for rolling stock maintenance

Roughness and similarity measure of rough neutrosophic multisets using vectorial model of information

The roughness and similarity measure for two different information in the same universal set is useful in explaining the strength and completeness of the information given. Then, for rough neutrosophic multisets environment, the lower and upper approximation was a concerned property to study in explaining the roughness of the information needed. Meanwhile, the vectorial models of information which are cosine measure and dice measure represent the result for the similarity measure of rough neutrosophic multisets. The finding of this set theory gives a new generalization about similarity measure for multiple information involving indeterminacy information in the same environment. Besides that, the rough neutrosophic multisets theory also applicable set-in decision making for medical diagnosis. The comparison result showed that the roughness approximation of information is essential to get the best result in a close similarity measure
